Nova Greece is a subscription TV service operating in Greece and a member of United Group, the largest telecommunications and media group in Southeast Europe. Nova delivers its services via satellite and internet. It runs 35 TV stations in total (20 own and 15 as a carryover service) as well as 3 VOD systems.

Nova Greece had been using the same broadcast management system for 15 years, but eventually decided to find an alternative that better met the needs of its operations.

The clock is ticking

Nova Greece wanted a more efficient solution that would unify its processes and improve automation for both linear and non-linear workflows. What’s more, the company needed to switch to a new solution in less than six months. Scope, design, migration, workflows — everything had to be done on time. That’s when PROVYS entered the picture.

Working hand in hand

Thanks to a 20-year partnership with the Greek systems integrator Telmaco, the PROVYS team was ready when Nova began its search for a new solution.

To deliver this critical and time-sensitive project, PROVYS engaged the experienced team from UIT Development. UIT Development, supervised by PROVYS, took responsibility for the end-to-end implementation, ensuring seamless execution across all project phases — from initial design and data migration to final rollout and systém stabilisation.

The implementation began with a product showcase tailored to the Greek market, identifying all necessary gaps to ensure complete end-to-end workflow coverage. While PROVYS and UIT Development handled the technical delivery and project execution, Telmaco provided on-the-ground support and conducted training sessions, ensuring knowledge transfer and strong local presence.

Nova’s legacy system lacked certain functionalities the company required.

PROVYS, well-established in the Greek market, provided the necessary security and stability. We also helped Nova automate and streamline key processes, eliminating manual work. For example, thanks to Sphere’s chain scheduling feature, Nova can now plan its programmes more quickly than ever before.

Today, Nova also benefits from fully managed cloud services, including performance monitoring, backups, Oracle licences, security, nd maintenance. PROVYS securely migrated all of Nova’s big data in just a few months.

What we learned from the project Nova recognised that understanding the nuances of in-house workflows can be extremely challenging. PROVYS adapted its approach as the project progressed, iterating quickly to meet Nova’s evolving needs. Both Teams worked closely to cut through red tape, using small implementation groups to keep work moving.
